PRINTERS EDGE OUT ROYALS WITH A NARROW WIN
Attacking midfielder John Kokas Alou lone goal in the 34th minute won it for the Printers against the Royals in the Startimes Uganda Premier League game played at Fisheries grounds in Bugonga on Thursday.
John Kokas Alou scored a beauty of a goal to look at after a number of exchanged short passes between Issa Mubiru and Sam Ssenyonjo in the 34th minute which ensured the debutants take home maximum points.
Early in the game, Masaza Cup graduate Jimmy Kalema got an opportunity to put Kitara FC in the lead but he was denied by UPPC Goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa in the 9th minute.
Shortly as the game progressed, striker Ambrose Kigozi went close to drawing first blood but couldn’t find the target when he was well set u by exciting winger Muhammed Kyeyune.
Kitara forward Amutuhaire also got an opportunity to before half time but his effort went wide.
The printers manged a first half well deserved lead, with the changes Wasswa BBOSA made introducing winger Byaruhanga, Ssebadeke, the visitors had a commanding second half creating several goal scoring opportunities.
Kitara striker Amutuhaire got another chance in the 54th minute but he was denied by goalkeeper Omedwa.
Midfield maestro Issa Bugembe tried his trademark shot, but his effort went wide.
The Entebbe based side maintained the momentum with Hassan Ssenyonjo and Ambrose Kigozi creating threat to Kitara’s last third.
The Royals Looked more organized defensively in the second stanza and pressurized for an equaliser, and Jonathan Odongo brought down Jasper Ahembwa in the area for a penalty.
Substitute Emmanuel Wasswa failed to level matters for the visitors from the penalty spot when he sent the kick over bar.
Entebbe UPPC players applauded their fans for the support at the end of the hard game.
Entebbe UPPC left back Issa Mubiru was named Man Of the Match for his impressive show on the evening.
The result means, UPPC jumped over Kitara with 20 points and the Royals Kitara FC sit sixth on the table with 19 points.
