UPL: UPPC FACE TOUGH TEST AGAINST VIPERS IN ENTEBBE ROAD DERBY
Debutants UPPC FC are set for their biggest test yet as they host Vipers SC in the much-anticipated Entebbe Road Derby at the Fisheries Grounds, Bugonga.
UPPC come into the fixture on a high after edging NEC FC 1-0 in their previous outing. The Entebbe-based side have now played four league matches, giving them a better feel of topflight action compared to their visitors, who are kicking off their first game of the 2025/26 UPL season.
This clash carries extra spice, not just because it’s a derby, but also due to Vipers’ earlier opposition to the now-scrapped new league format introduced by FUFA.
History adds more intrigue — the last time Vipers played at this venue was eight years ago, during the 2017/18 season, when they beat Masavu FC 2-0, courtesy of goals from Steven Mukwala and Milton Karisa. Interestingly, Karisa remains at the club and will captain the Venoms in this return to Entebbe.
However, this time, Vipers face a rejuvenated UPPC side packed with experienced Premier League campaigners hungry to make a statement.
All eyes will be on Allan Okello for Vipers and Kawawa Samuel for UPPC — two creative forces capable of deciding the game.
Who will claim the Entebbe Road bragging rights? The derby will have the answer.
