UFL: The Wait is Over as Hamz Stadium Nakivubo Hosts Pepsi University League Opener

The long wait is finally over! The 13th edition of the Pepsi University Football League (UFL) kicks off tomorrow with a thrilling double-header at the newly built Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

In a move to encourage massive student turnout, entrance will be free for all students.

The day’s action begins at 3:00 PM, with a blockbuster clash between two-time champions Kampala University and the defending champions Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi (UMU). Later, at 5:00 PM, 2018 champions Kyambogo University will face off against ISBAT University in what promises to be another entertaining contest.

This year’s edition comes with a new format: teams will meet only once in the group stages, either home or away. Group winners will automatically qualify for the quarterfinals, alongside the three best runners-up across all groups.

The 2025 season also welcomes four debutants: Mountain of the Moon University, Censor University, Soroti University, and Lira University—adding fresh excitement to the competition.
