Sylivia Kabene, Barbara Amono and Mary Kantono scored for Uganda Queen Cranes in the second half to defeat Namibia in the FIFA U-20 Women World Cup Qualifier 2026 first leg game played today Friday at FUFA Kadiba stadium.

Kabene capitalised on Goalkeeper Sylivia Tunga blunder early in the second half for Uganda’s opener in the 47th minute after the two sides had settled for a goal-less draw at halftime.

Central defender Barbara Amono doubled the lead with a powerful header in the 82nd minute when he connected well with trickery winger Sumaya ‘Fresh Kid’ Nalumu well crafted cross.

She Corporates energetic forward Kantono came on as a substitute to put the icing on the cake for Uganda with a powerful shot that beat both the defender and goalkeeper in added minutes.

However, one may think it was a comfortable win for Uganda with the 3-0 win margin at full-time, which wasn’t not the case. The visitors were solid and seemed unbreakable in the first stanza creating two scoring chances they couldn’t convert and the wasteful Uganda side missing several chances.

The half time break- whistle went at 0-0 score line, but Uganda had missed several chances with Kabene, Patricia Nayiga, Nabukenya, Nalumu, all getting opportunities to find the back of the net but couldn’t.

Namibia will host Uganda in the return leg fixture on Monday at the same venue aiming to overturn the 3-0 deficit.
