Busujju Coach Hussein Kato sends warning to big boys Gomba & Buddu after beating Busiro.
Busujju Ssaza Head Coach Hussein Sseguya Kato was a happy man getting maximum points in their Masaza Cup 2025 opener against 2023 winners Busiro in a game that ended 1-0 on Sunday at Kassanda in Mityana district.

Busujju Forward Lauben Lubwama scored the all important goal in the 30th minute and was later named man of the match for his impressive performance on the evening.
” This is a morale boasting win to the young group of young boys have lined up, a win is a win, and we wanted it badly because we wanted to get the best start at home which we can build on as we wait to face the other big names Gomba and Buddu, but am sure everyone is happy now.

Hussein Kato speaking to Sports256 media in an exclusive interview, he further, pointed at his county’s readiness and the long desire to face what he termed as ‘people’s big boys’ Gomba and Buddu.
” Last year I was here at Busujju, and I progressed from the group un-beaten and I was pitted alongside Mawokota, Busiro, teams, most people refer to as big teams and Kabula and this time have started brightly with a win at home, in this group am an underdog but what I can promise those that have won it before in this group; Gomba, Buddu, is that football is not about history, but it’s preparations and desire because it’s what they also did to win it. But I have always wished to face them, I don’t want to say I will beat them, but at home here, it will be determined by the final whistle like today..! So in our next game, I will be playing against Buruuli away and I will handle it as some one who has three points against another winner of the opener already and am eagerly waiting to play Gomba at home.” He stated.
Kato a former Mityana Utoda FC footballer in the SUPL, also promised Busujju people a better show than last year’s Quarter Final performance.
I had got other offers by I stayed here, to try give these people some thing better, last season, we were knocked out at Quarter finals, so if I don’t take them far than that, then it means I wouldn’t have done better for them or for my self.”
In his last remarks speaking to this site, he was impressed with the boys performance and spirit exhibited and requested all county people to put politics aside for the county success.
” Today’s win was a collective effort, am happy with their effort and our fans, but I kindly ask all Busujju people, to kindly put politics aside and we all ambrace this Ssabassaja tournament that we can also win it because I also want to win it here.” Kato concluded.
Coach Kato had earlier before joining Busujju coached Buvuma and guided them to their first ever progress from the group stages and lost to Mawokota at Quarter Finals level.
Kato as well has guided Busujju to the quarter finals last year after six years without making it to the knock out stage.
Busiro star man Kennedy Ssewankambo scooped the Busiro Ssaza player of the match award on the evening.

Elsewhere, 3-time Champions Mawokota, edged Buwekula 2-1, Kyaggwe beat Kooki 2-0, Bugerere and Islanders Buvuma shared spoils.
