CHAN 2024: Vipers’ Yunus Sentamu named in Cranes provisional squad.

Knick-named the hit-man for his scoring prowess, after an impressive season at the Kitende based club guiding the club to a double – league and Stanbic Uganda Cup glory, Yunus Junior Sentamu has been named in provisional squad of the Uganda Cranes ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to be hosted across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Vipers star man Sentamu is anticipated to return to the Cranes squad after a while with his club head coach Fred Muhumuza in charge and Byekwaso.

Sentamu has not been considered at some occasions while enjoying the best run in the league and cup games and as well, when summoned, it has happened before and turned down some summons to concentrate on club football.

The in-form double footed forward who can play on the right, left, and as centered forward returns with vast experience and will negotiate for a starting place with team mate Karisa, Villa star man Kakande Jona, Ssemugabi, Usama, Ahimbisibwe, James Bigere among others.

The 30 years old, made his debut for the Uganda national football team in 2014, and has since made over 30 appearances and scored five goals for his country.

The experienced forward left the Venoms, played at As Vita, CS Sfaxien, iIves, and Tirana before he made a return at St Mary’s stadium in 2020.

Express Football Club captain Emmanuel Wasswa eager to make mark in national colours, SC Villa winger Reagan Mpande, BUL central attacking Midfielder Kirya Jerome, Kitara flying right back Lazaro Bwambale, central Midfielder Elvis Ngondwe, goal keeper Dennis Kiggundu, center bcak Okao Jacob, and exciting forward Baden Mujaid.

Allan Okello, Milton Karisa, Jonah Kakande, Ssemugabi, Watambala, Sserunjoji, Mayanja, Kizito, Torach are some of the senior national team common faces considered in this CHAN team of strictly local based.

Earlier FUFA announced the technical panel of Fred Muhumuza and Morley Byekwaso that has officially released the provisional squad comprised of 41 players all drawn from the Uganda Premier League as per tournament regulations and based on current data available to FUFA.

The team will start with the non residential training on Monday 23rd June 2025 at the Prisons ground in Luzira at 9am.
