APR FC, Police FC, and AS Kigali Secure Peace Cup Quarterfinal Spots

Midfielder Jean Bosco Ruboneka scored twice as APR FC thrashed Musanze FC 4-0 at Kigali Pele Stadium on Wednesday to advance to the 2025 Peace Cup quarterfinals. The army side won the two-legged tie 4-0 after a goalless first-leg draw at Ubworoherane Stadium.

Mahamadou Lamine Bah opened the scoring in the fourth minute with an assist from new signing Denis Omedi. Omedi has started life in Kigali on a good note, having scored a brace in APR’s league win over Kiyovu. The forward played a crucial role in the attack, linking up well with his teammates to create scoring opportunities.

Midfielder Jean Bosco Ruboneka added to APR’s advantage in the 30th minute, converting a well-timed pass from Mamadou Sy to double the lead. Ruboneka struck again in the 62nd minute to make it 3-0 before Sy rounded off the scoring in the 72nd minute with a powerful header.

Elsewhere, Police FC defeated Nyanza FC 3-0, advancing with a 4-2 aggregate victory. AS Kigali eliminated Vision FC with a 2-1 aggregate win after drawing 1-1 in the second leg.

APR FC, Police FC, and AS Kigali join Rayon Sports, Mukura VS, Amagaju FC, and Gasogi United in the quarterfinals. The final spot will be decided when Gorilla FC faces City Boys on Thursday at Kigali Pele Stadium.
