Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Joseph Put has dropped Eight players from the earlier summoned 36 ahead of the 2024 Total-Energies African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Put trims the squad after three days of training as the team continues to shape ahead of the 2024 CHAN.
The squad reduced to 28 players will head to Cranes Paradise Hotel, Kisasi to continue with preparations.
Versatile player Moses Aliro, BUL FC defender Walter Ochora, Midfielders; Ibrahim Thembo, KCCA teenager Brian Ijara, El Cambio wonder kid Isma Magala, forwards Hakim Kiwanuka, Dennis Omedi, Sadat Anaku and Vipers captain Milton Karisa are those that doesn’t made cut to the final 28 for various reasons.
Forwards Omedi and Kiwanuka have been excluded after raising to professional ranks and Karisa is ruled out with injury according to this site trusted source.
Only one lower league club player James Bogere of Masaka Sunshine FC has made cut after his impressive performance in the CECAFA U-17 Championship. His U-17 counter parts Magala and Ijara have been left out.
New faces in the Cranes fold; Express midfielder Wasswa Emmanuel, forward Charles Lwanga, Enock Ssebagala and Isaac Ogwang have made the squad to expected to enter a residential camp tomorrow.
There was however, a late call up for exciting winger Usama Arafat who joined striker Isaac Ogwang who weren’t earlier summoned.
Two international friendlies are lined up coming on the 17th January and a week later.
For starters, CHAN 2024 will take place between 1st -28th February 2025 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will host CHAN 2024 between 1st -28th February 2025.
The draw event to determine the groups of CHAN 2024 will be conducted on Wednesday in Nairobi, Kenya
