KCCA FC Humble Maroons in Commanding Performance at Lugogo
In a high-stakes encounter at Lugogo, KCCA FC delivered a stunning performance, dismantling Maroons FC with a decisive 5-0 victory. The win not only showcased KCCA’s dominance but also lifted them to the top of the league standings for the first time this season.
From the outset, KCCA FC was eager to capitalize on their rivals’ SC Vipers recent success in Mbarara. In just the 3rd minute, Maroons’ defense faltered, allowing midfielder Ashraf Mugume to slot home his second goal of the season with a low, driven shot, setting the tone for the match.
KCCA’s transition play was relentless and proved devastating for the Maroons. Abubaker Mayanja extended the lead before halftime, finishing off a beautifully orchestrated team buildup that featured a stunning interchange with Bright Anukani. The duo’s chemistry was evident as they combined to put KCCA firmly in control.
The game descended into catastrophe when KCCA capitalized on a glaring error from Maroons’ goalkeeper, Tamale Fred. A long throw from KCCA’s Mugolofa went unchallenged, and when Tamale failed to clear the danger, Saidi Mayanja struck from 60 yards out, launching a shot that left the Maroons’ keeper helpless. This goal is already being touted as a contender for goal of the season.

KCCA’s depth was on display as substitutions added fresh energy and skill to the attack. Obenchan, Arafat, and Katenga came on to replace Hassan Muhamud, Saidi Mayanja, and Abu Mayanja, further sealing the fate of the Maroons. Maroons struggled to cope with KCCAβs high pressing game, leading to more trouble in their defensive third.
In the 66th minute, KCCA’s relentless pursuit of goals paid off again. Youngster Shafik Nana Kwikiriza seized on a defensive lapse and found the net with a well-placed volley at the near post, marking his first goal for the club and highlighting KCCA’s youth development success.
Returning star Sadat Anaku capped off the scoring, netting KCCA’s fifth goal and condemning Maroons to what was undoubtedly their worst performance of the season. The victory propels KCCA to the summit of the league, while Maroons finds themselves in 13th place, desperately seeking to turn their fortunes around.
Coach Abdalla Mubiru’s side now turns its focus to a crucial top-of-the-table clash against SC Vipers on November 9, while Maroons will aim to bounce back as they host URA FC in their next outing. The pressure is on for both teams as the season heats up.
