FUFA Launches FIFA Club Professionalisation and Management Programme in Kampala
The FIFA Club Professionalisation and Management Programme officially kicked off on Thursday at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kampala, Uganda, marking a significant step towards enhancing football club management across Africa. The event was inaugurated by FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim, joined by FUFA’s 1st Vice President Justus Mugisha and 3rd Vice President Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi.
A host of FUFA Executive Committee Members, including Rogers Byamukama, Rogers Mulindwa, Sam Mpiima, Ronnie Kalema, Apollo Ahimbisibwe, and Dan Obote, were also present. The FIFA delegation, led by Solomon Mudege, Head of FIFA Development Programmes for Africa, included key figures such as Marcos Picallo Aguilar, FIFA Senior Professional Football Manager, and several other regional coordinators and managers.
In his opening remarks, President Magogo expressed gratitude to FIFA for extending its support beyond federations to benefit clubs directly. “We are glad that FIFA’s support is not limited to only Federations, but even Clubs are benefiting from Projects like this one,” he stated. He emphasized the importance of the knowledge being shared during the programme, urging club administrators to engage fully to enhance their club’s brand and management.
FIFA’s Solomon Mudege reiterated the programme’s goal to facilitate holistic development of football clubs in Africa. “This Programme is a core activity of FIFA to build capacity in clubs and leagues, fostering the long-term growth of the game,” he said.

The initiative has already been implemented in 11 African countries, with clubs expected to develop and present their strategic plans. Clubs with exemplary plans will have the opportunity to participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the USA, further underscoring the programme’s potential impact.
The first day of the workshop focused on Strategic Planning and Governance, equipping participants—comprised of chairmen and CEOs from StarTimes Uganda Premier League clubs—with essential skills in formulating strategic plans, establishing club organizational structures, and ensuring clear separation of powers within the clubs.
As the workshop progresses into its final day, participants will delve into crucial topics related to financial management, branding, and marketing strategies. The aim is to empower Ugandan clubs to adopt best practices that can enhance their operations and competitiveness in both local and international arenas.
The FIFA Club Professionalisation and Management Programme promises to be a transformative initiative, paving the way for a more professional and sustainable football ecosystem in Africa.
