Uganda Cranes defender Gavin Kizito Mugweri is a happy man after completing a two year deal to KCCA FC.
Speaking on arrival at Lugogo, the St Mary’s Kitende graduate, promised the fans success and to repay for the faith by the Kasasiro boys management.
” I feel so excited and happy to join KCCA FC. I have an ambition to help the club win trophies together with my fellow players. I am thankful to the club board, management, and Head Coach for having granted me this opportunity to join KCCA FC, and I will also re-pay their faith in me.” He told Kccafc.co.ug
The deal will see young versatile defender at Lugogo until the end of the 2025–26 season.
The calm defender is comfortable playing as a right back, center half but can also be played at left back.
Mugweri, helped SC Villa win the StarTimes Uganda Premier League last season -2023/24 shortly after rejoining the team from Egyptian side Al itthad.
Gavin is a proven leader with vast experience given his age. He captained the Uganda U20 men’s national side to the AFCON U20 final against Ghana in Nouakchott, Mauritania, 2021.
The 23 year old, has risen through all the national team ranks having previously captained the U17, U20, U23 sides before being promoted to the Uganda Cranes.
According to the club website, Gavin Kizito will don shirt number 21 for the 2024/25 season.
Gavin will compete for a starting position with Fillbert Obenchan, Musitafa Mujuzi, Hassan Muhamud, Haruna Lukwago, and Peter Magambo.
