Isabirye has been appointed to replace David Obua, who was dismissed during the second round of the recently concluded Startimes Uganda Premier League season. Robert Mukasa then served as caretaker manager for the remainder of the season.
This appointment marks a return for Isabirye, who previously managed URA FC and led the club to their last league title in the 2010/2011 season. Under his leadership, the team also won the Uganda Cup in 2012, cementing his status as a prominent and successful coach in Ugandan football.
Isabirye Joins URA after coaching Express FC and SC Vipers respectively ,recording a league title with the later before relationship broke down between the coach and the board room.
Details about his contract with the tax collectors is unknown the coach was represented by former URA FC chairman James Kizza’s management agency Rusal Sports Management which was pivotal in these negotiations.
Alex Isabirye replaces David Obua who lost the dressing room because of his rigorous playing style that entails building from the back a system foreign to the majority of the players.
Isabirye returns as a prodigal son who played with the tax collectors in the years 2009 winning the league with them, as a player he also won league titles with current champions in the years 2002,2003 and 2004.
Isabirye however comes in with a wealth of experience having won 5 Uganda Cups under his stewardship, URA FC will look to redeem its trophy cabinet with the acquisition of a coach who is a serial winner.
URA FC is struggling to define its identify with tax payers wondering what are the clubs goals, objectives and with luck of infrastructure development since its inception URA FC has faced pressure to define what it is .
