SMASK Teenage Center Back Mukisa Speaks Out After Joining UPDF.
Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) FC have completed the signing of St Mary’s Kitende teenager Simon Mukisa on a two year deal.
The 17 year old intelligent central defender was happy with the opportunity given to him at an early age to feature in Uganda’s top tier league and promised to pay back for the trust in him.
Am delighted and happy for this opportunity given to me by the coach and management of UPDF FC.
My immediate target on joining the club is to ensure that the team performs better than last season as to get used to the league as a player.
To the fans, they should expect a very calm defender at the back and good football right from the defence.
Mukisa join the list of players that study at St Mary’s Kitende but play for other StarTimes Uganda premier league clubs, with Charles Lwanga and Andrew Kawooya among those.
When we join the school it’s not automatic that you will sign for Vipers but it depends on some factors, you can be in school and play for other clubs. But if I work so hard where I am now and there is an opportunity for me at Vipers, there is no player in Uganda that doesn’t want to play at St Mary’s Stadium, but I as well I don’t rule out other opportunities from other big clubs if they come across.
The young star also shared his football dream and his expectations in a few years to come in an exclusive interview.
My football dream is to be a star like the likes of former Uganda Cranes captain and Goalkeeper Dennis Onyango.
In years to come, I want to follow the foot steps of the likes of Awany, Onyango and others, to play here for some time then move for professional football.
The teenager also highlighted on how he has tried to balance books and football.
It’s hard sometimes that’s why many leave books to concentrate only on football, but for my case, after classes we always have training sessions at school something that helps me to keep fit,so by the time the club coach needs me, I go have one/two training sessions with a club to play a game.
He has represented Uganda at junior level and won the CECAFA U-17 title.

Mukisa pointed at former KCCA FC captain Timothy Awany as his role model and also pointed at other players he looks on to improve his game.
Awany made me love playing football more, I loved his character and he was a leader. I also look on to and copy John Revita and abroad I love and learn from Gerrald Pique.
He pointed at U-20 star and Bright Stars FC Midfielder Ivan Irinimbabazi as his best teammate and Abdul Nsereko as his toughest opponent.
Mukisa is a graduate of the FUFA junior’s league with KCCA FC junior team a side he joined after passing the trials and it’s where he left to join St Mary’s Kitende.

He was scouted by Coach Ronald Ssali to join St Mary’s Kitende this year and won the National Championship this in Arua.
