Relegated Mbarara City FC Confirm Only 10 Players Will Stay At the Club.
According to the club official release on Thursday 26th May 2022, the Ankole Lions will only retain ten players after suffering relagation from the StarTimes Uganda Premier league.
Mbarara City was relagated to the FUFA Big league along with Police FC and Tooro United FC.
Mbarara City finished 15th and only managed 25 points seven between them Busoga United that survived.
In their bid to rebuild, re-organise and strengthening their team to return to the premier league, they have swept out over fifteen players to retain only 10.
Sensation young star Kakaire Thomas, experienced Okwalinga Solomon are among the Midfielders kept at the club.
Forwards Jude Semugabi and Sadat Nsubuga have also been retained for their big league season.
Other include; Ivan Otude , Steven Othieno, Ronald Edwok, Seri Arigumaho, Karim Ramathan.
Their Capatin Hilary Mukundane left the team to join champions Vipers in January.
Those that have been left to go include; Muhammed Ssekeba, Bamba, Jasper Ahebwa, Aaron Akoth, John Adriko, Martin Elungati, Ronald Otti, Pistis Barenge, Siraje Musindo, Wol Makueth, Derrick Onyai, Godfrey Kalungi, Frank Kalule and hitman Henry Kitegenyi.
The club management has promised the fans to approach the players out of Contract for a possible stay and those with running contracts but not listed up to negotiate their way out of the club.
In the same announcement notice, the club management was greatful to the departing players, fans and well wishers for their support in the previous season and promised them to return to the top level.
Maroons, Sporting United and Kyetume FC were promoted and will be part of the 2022/23 season
