Henry Musabe: My Top 10 Exciting Talents at 2022 USSSA Arua Games.

Sports256 senior reporter Henry Musabe has taken an extra stride to bring close to football fans world wide some of the exciting or special talents spotted in the USSSA Games that were held at Mvara SS in Arua.

For starters, St Mary’s Kitende won the 2022 championship and their 10th title in history one behind Kibuli SS. But for this matter the reporter highlights on some of the special young players, that National team junior sides and StarTimes Uganda Premier League, FUFA Big league clubs have to look out for.

The reporter, has picked the best ten (10) and went ahead to applause those that were outstanding as well, but couldn’t make cut.

The selection is mainly based on players’ natural talent, individual brilliance and execution at the 2022 School’s Championship.

10. Andrew Kawooya – SMASK.

Not the best tournament for the UPDF FC man and SMASK Captain, he sat out for some of the matches with fever, but he showcased his abilities; vision, a dead ball specialist with good first and last touches in the games he was involved in.

9. Patrick Kakande – UMHSL

His abilities to beat opponents with speed and energy, the crafty winger was easily noticable.

8. Dennis Semujju – Kibuli SS.

Knicknamed Messi, for his abilities, the left footed winger, was joy to watch whenever he was Introduced and whenever he was in possession.

7. Innocent Media – Buddo SS

Not the best tournament for the the school captain, who was always nursing an Injury, but his qualities were easily noticable; eye on goal, could easily beat opponents and his finishing.

6. Yiga Alex – Dynamic SS.

The school captain, another central midfielder who was outstanding; uses the ball so well, good last touch and so calm and composed.

5. Shafiq Kakande – Royal Giant -Mityana.

Trickery, uses the ball so well, on both flanks with an eye on goal. Frank Mulindwa used him as a winger and as a striker in other games and was their top scorer.

4. Godfrey Sekibengo – St Henry’s College Kitovu

Very intelligent footballer, with great vision and his creativity was what Kitovu was thriving on.

3. Marvin Mukiibi – Kawempe Royal College

The Wakiso giants player, was so impressive with his left foot, tried to carry the team on his shoulder, but couldn’t make it to the round of 16 stage.

2. Edwine ‘Kanyankole ‘Owachgui – Kibuli SS

He wasn’t known to many Ugandan football fans, but his trickery and magical display in the quarter finals against Mvara SS, was eye catching and no doubt was among the special or gifted players in the tournament.

1. Travis Mutyaba – Gombe High School

The biggest name in the championship took the Tournament by storm with skills and individual brilliance guided debutants to the final & was named MVP.

Special Mentions 

Mimosa Yasiri – Gombe High

A very calm central midfielder, with good interceptions, great passer of the ball. The Arua Hill SC Player was exceptional.

Hassan Mubiru – St Mary’s Kitende

Was very promising with a good and strong left foot, was always impactful when brought on by Edward Golola.

Amos Ayikobua

Another left footed genius, his team was knocked out at the group stages, but many fans wished to watch him more.

Yusuf Sebumpenje – Buddo SS.

Another winger that uses the ball well on both flanks.

Elvis Sekajugo – Royal Giant

Not the best tournament for him, was many times used as a substitute, but his individual abilities gives him a nod.

Chiengkuoth Par Jiek – Kawempe Muslim

An intelligent and Versatile player, was used in many positions; used as a left winger, right winger, as a full back.

Joel Kiyonga – UMHSL

Another soft left foot, loves taking on opponents, the young star was also joy to watch Arua.
