Tooro United Young Star Kagogwe Optimistic the Team will Survive the Axe.

Tooro United Football Club seated at the bottom of the StarTimes Uganda Premier log at the end of the first round, many can easily believe they are the best candidates for relegationthis season 2021/22,  but not for young defender Apollo Kagogwe.

The Roaring Lions have only managed four points; a single win and draw from fifteen (15) first round outing, one of the worst ever Uganda premier league starts for any club.

Tooro on their return to the Premier league, have been hit much by financial problems something that has affected their operations; retaininig their best players, salaries, holding on to coaches and others.

Amidst all what is happening at the club, caused by the financial issues, 18 year old defender Kagogwe is hopeful and believes they can survive the SUPL axe by end of the season.

“As a player, survival is what is in my mind every minute and it is what everyone is thinking about here. The main target is no doubt being in the premier league next season which is attainable and ball is in our hands. We just need atleast 8/9 wins from the 15 games.” Kagogwe stated.

The teenage defender who has emerged a key figure in the Oranges’ side, made his Uganda premier league debut at home against UPDF FC and didnot miss a single game for the Buhinga side until he was sent off in a defeat to SC Villa.

The young star also didnot make his desire to make a break through to the Cranes a secret speaking to Sports256 in an exclusive interview.

” I have always dreamt of playing for my country since i was a kid and know i have a big platform at Tooro to showcase my abilities, get the experience and attain my target of being summoned to the Cranes in my first top tier season.” He added.

After sitting out for the Express and Onduparaka games serving the red card suspension, he makes a timely return to action for their next SUPL game at home against URA FC.

Kagogwe, who is yet to score in the Premier league for the struggling bottom placed side, missed the season first seven (7) games because his licence was not yet out.

The Oranges or call them the roaring lions of Buhinga, in danger to return to second tier FUFA big league, returned to premier league this season along with Gaddafi FC and Arua Hill FC.

Tooro 16th at the bottom with four pounts, are separated by 7 points with Busoga United in 15th place and points seperate the from Onduparaka(13th) to jump out of the danger zone.

Kagogwe, is another Copa Coca Cola graduate that has easily made a bright start in the SUPL.

He was at Nakeseke International College, Standard High School, and later joined St Mary’s Kitende.
