A Dynamic look into sports

We Are in Trouble but Not Finished – Tooro United Captain Apollo Kagogwe.

Tooro United Football Captain Apollo Kagogwe is hopefully they can still survive the axe despite only collecting nine points from Nineteen (19) StarTimes Uganda premier league outings.

The teenager who was named Captain after Dennis Ojara left the club to join Onduparaka FC, thinks they need to be positive get the best results from the 11 games left to save their top tier life.

In our bid to fight relegation, we are not thinking of Bright Stars who are next to us but the nine points to jump out of the danger zone which is still achievable.

If we can beat the teams we are competing with and also other teams help us beat them we still have chance to survive. We just need to share the same target as players, coaches and management to a achieve it.

Whenever I speak to players before each and every game, my point is always to give the best for the club and as well to market themselves because today we are here nobody knows where we shall be tomorrow.

Kagogwe thinks they were unfortunate to loose all three points to Police in their away game to Police.

We lost a game against Police a game which we thought we would get results, and why we lost, it was a tough away game in which they also badly needed points.

We came into the game with alot of positive energy that we can get all points but we got some disorganization towards kick off which affected us and by the time we gained momentum it was too late for us. But we shall work on that and we believe it’s not too late for us to reorganize.

Kagogwe a Copa graduate with Standard High School Zana, had a short stint with St Mary’s Kitende Secondary School before joining Uganda’s top tier the StarTimes Uganda Premier league.

The versatile teenager is one of the highly rated young defenders in the SUPL who can play across the backline and infront of the back four.

He was named Captain at the start of the second round of the 2021/22 season in his debut season in the top tier and now the youngest Captain among the 16 captains in the SUPL.

Seven points is the difference between bottom placed Tooro United (16th) and second bottom placed club Bright Stars (15th).

And nine points in the difference between Tooro United and Onduparaka they need to jump out the danger zone.

Tooro United was knocked out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup by Onduparaka in Arua and their concentration now is on SUPL survival.

Kagogwe deputised by goalkeeper Kenneth Given Lukyamuzi, first captianed Tooro for their away Stanbic Uganda Cup win against Five Stars FC.
