Brig. General Mpagi flanked by other Army officers lauched MAA in Uganda.
It has gone to history that the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Federation has started operation on Tuesday 30th November 2021 at a function held at Fusion Auto Spa in Munyonyo.
At a function that was graced by many Army officers most especially from the Airforce, the official launch was done by Brigedier General Rebecca Mpagi who represented the CDF – Commander of the air forces as the chief guest.
On the same event, the first ever MMA fight was also launched and will be held on 25th January 2022 at Fusion Auto Spa in Munyonyo.
The first ever Mixed Martial Arts fight in Uganda will be hosted by Titus Tugume against American Daniel ‘Chitown’ Gilliham .
According to Titus’ coach Ruben Saldana of Ru -Camp ( GAMMA USA federation), who also happens to double as Gilliham’s Coach, the training of the player(Tugume), other upcoming stars, and coaches is on going at Munyonyo.
” I first of all want to thank God and Ugandans, that with the help of the coaches here, we have identified interested fighters and we have been training them and the coaches for two weeks now. Mixed Martial Arts is the fastest growing sport world wide.
This is a special experience for all of us that a new sport is born in the country, Ugandans are very loving people and respectful.
I met Tugume four years ago in USA, but now today will go down to history as the day the game that will benefit many Ugandans was initiated in the country. We created a board and we believe the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) Uganda by January will be the body to sanction the first fight.” Coach Ruben stated.
Brigedier General Mpagi was greatful to the coach and assured the media the Uganda Peoples’ defence forces are behind Tugume in this.
” Am happy to be here and blessed to support my son Tugume as i officially launch the MMA game in the country. The country is greatful to the coach Ruben with his team to see we have reached this milestone. I want to conclude by appreciating Tugume’s mum who is here for her continued support to the son.
Tugume, was greatful to the sponsors and promised a good fight in January.

TAL Cottage Hotel managing director Asuman Rwenshaka started the fundraising function for the January event money with a deposit of UGX 2million.
The Gheto Kids, the ambassadors of the mixed Martial Arts federation, entertained the people with their mesmerising dancing strokes.
Artist King -DJ Micheal will be the official man in charge of entertainment.
